no journal, ,

At the Mizunami Underground Research Laboratory, inflow water control to inside the tunnel has become topic. Because of this, the pre-grouting at inside the tunnnel of depth 200m was executed. In this report, it is something which is reported concerning the result of the pre-grouting.

Overview of results of pre-excavation grouting for 200m level horizontal tunnel at the Mizunami Underground Research Laboratory

Matsui, Hiroya; Mikake, Shinichiro; Takeuchi, Shinji; Noda, Masatoshi*

no journal, ,

Pre-excavation grouting for the shelter at 200m depth horizontal research tunnel at Mizunami Underground Research Laboratory has been carried out at Mizunami, Gifu. The results of pre-grouting and related Lugeon test with 19 boreholes, hydraulic heterogeniety of the rock mass has been understood.

Re-interpretation of the fluid electric conductivity measurements carried out in the MIZ-1 borehole at the Mizunami Underground Research Laboratory project

Bruines, P.*; Ando, Kenichi*; Niibori, Yuichi*; Matsuoka, Kiyoyuki*; Takeuchi, Shinji

no journal, ,

Fluid electric conductivity (FEC) measurements have been carried out in the 1,350 m long MIZ-1 borehole followed by the modeling of FEC curve with newly developed finite difference code and obtaining tranmissivity in each feed point from FEC logging. The obtained results are comparable to those obtained by hydraulic testing. The method can be valuable to help in the selection of locations for more detailed hydraulic tests. Under certain circumstances the method can be used as a low cost alternative to hydraulic testing.

Calibration of groundwater flow model based on the shape of saline water/freshwater interface in inland area

Yamamoto, Hajime*; Shimo, Michito*; Kunimaru, Takanori

no journal, ,

In this study, the time evolution of saline water/freshwater interface during the infiltration of fresh water from the land surface into deepsaline water was simulated for 200ka in a 8km $$times$$ 5km area centered on the Horonobe URL site. The permeabilities of some geologic formations in the groundwater flow model were optimized based on the depths of each water/freshwater interface observed in 10 deep boreholes. The simulation well reproduced the shape of saline water/freshwater interface observed in these deep boreholes and an electrical resistivity by MT/AMT.

Oral presentation

Comparing the rock behaviors obtained from high-precision tiltmeters and from the elastic analysis of shaft excavation

Hatsuyama, Yoshihiro*; Ijiri, Yuji*; Nago, Makito*; Kamemura, Katsumi*; Sato, Masaru*; Sanoki, Satoru*; Kunimaru, Takanori

no journal, ,

The data obtained from high-precision tiltmeters installed at the Horonobe URL was compared with the result of three-dimensional elastic analysis of shaft excavation.

Oral presentation

Data analysis of high-precision tiltmeters installed around the Horonobe underground research laboratory

Ijiri, Yuji*; Hatsuyama, Yoshihiro*; Nago, Makito*; Kamemura, Katsumi*; Sato, Masaru*; Sanoki, Satoru*; Kunimaru, Takanori

no journal, ,

Both the short- and long-period noises were filtered out from the data of high-precision tiltmeters installed at the Horonobe URL. Then, the effect of shaft excavation on these data was investigated.

Oral presentation

A Study on the applicability of one-dimensional model for evaluating in-situ tracer tests in a fracture

Naemura, Yumi*; Ijiri, Yuji*; Sawada, Atsushi; Kunimaru, Takanori; Ota, Kunio

no journal, ,

The applicability of one-dimensional model for evaluating in-situ tracer tests in a two-dimensional flow within a fracture was examined by comparing with the result of one- and two-dimensional model.
